Its purpose is to ensure that only authorized users can use certain software applications such as ONTRACKEQUINE. If you have never seen a dongle before, don't be surprised. They are only used with specialist, high-end software programs. When a program that comes with a dongle runs, it checks the dongle for verification as it is loading. If it doesn't find the dongle, the computer explodes! Well it doesn't really but the software fails to open. Your dongle has to be fitted in order to run ONTRACKEQUINE FULL version.

The big advantage of a dongle is that it allows users to install the software on any computer, for example, the laptop you use in your equine clinic and your desktop computer at home. You only need to insert the USB dongle on the computer you are using. This is in contrast to software that is licensed by a serial number or code. With these you are normally tied to installing the software on one computer at a time. It was recognized for practicing equine clinicians to have as much flexibility as possible in what computer they have access to in order to carry on analysis or to view the videos and images.
